Using the Website Tracking Page in Experiture

Updated over 3 months ago

The Website Tracking page in Experiture is designed to monitor and track the activity of visitors who come to your website, including anonymous visitors. By tracking and filtering visitor data, you can gain valuable insights to inform your marketing strategy, identify potential leads, and optimize the user experience on your site.

Here’s how to use the various components of this page:

1. Visitor Data Table

The main section of the page shows a table with columns that track various details about each website visitor. This table includes the following key fields:

  • Visitor: Displays identifying information for known visitors (e.g., name or lead ID). For anonymous visitors, this field may remain blank.

  • Activity Date: The specific date and time when the visitor interacted with your website.

  • IP Address: The visitor’s IP address, which can help identify geographical location and track visitor behavior over time.

  • Search Keywords: If available, this column shows keywords the visitor used to find your site via a search engine.

  • Country Name, Region Name, City Name: These fields capture the geographical details of the visitor based on the IP address. This information helps you understand where your visitors are located, which can be useful for regional marketing strategies.

  • Zip Code: The visitor's postal code, again derived from their IP address.

  • Organization: This field may display the organization the visitor is associated with, based on their IP or domain. This is particularly useful for B2B marketing when anonymous visitors come from a company’s network.

  • Activity: Displays the type of activity or interaction the visitor had on the site, such as visiting a specific page, clicking a link, or submitting a form.

  • Referral URL: The URL the visitor came from before arriving at your website. This is useful for understanding which channels are driving traffic to your site.

  • Page Name: The specific page on your site that the visitor interacted with.

2. Filtering Options

In the top-right corner of the screen, there are various filters you can use to narrow down the data displayed:

  • Search Bar: This allows you to search for specific visitors, activities, or keywords by entering relevant terms.

  • All Tracks Dropdown: This dropdown filter enables you to select specific tracking parameters to filter the displayed data. You can filter by specific activity types, page names, or visitor characteristics.

Using these filters helps you focus on specific segments of visitors or interactions, making it easier to analyze the data that is most relevant to your goals.

3. Exporting Data

In the top-left section, there is an Export button. Clicking this allows you to download the data from the visitor tracking table as a CSV file or another format of your choice. This feature is particularly helpful for exporting data for deeper analysis or reporting.

4. Real-time Tracking and Refresh

The tracking page updates in real-time as new visitors come to your website. To ensure you are viewing the latest information, you can use the Refresh button on the top-right to update the data.

Regularly refreshing the page will keep you updated on new activity, allowing you to act on hot leads or important interactions as they happen.

Best Practices for Website Tracking

  • Identify Opportunities for Lead Nurturing: Use the geographical, organizational, and behavioral data to identify anonymous visitors who might be high-value leads. Follow up by targeting them with relevant marketing campaigns.

  • Understand Visitor Behavior: Use the activity and page name data to see what parts of your website are generating the most interest. This can help optimize content or improve user flow on your site.

  • Optimize Traffic Sources: The referral URL and search keyword fields can provide insight into which channels are driving the most traffic, allowing you to focus marketing efforts on the highest-performing channels.
